Team Collaboration
This guide explains how to set up deprec8 for team use with organizations.
Step 1: Create an Organization
- Go to Organizations
- Click Create Organization
- Choose a name (e.g. your company or team name)
Step 2: Invite Team Members
From your organization's page:
- Click Invite Member
- Enter each team member's email address
- Assign appropriate roles:
- Admin for team leads who need to manage settings
- Member for developers who need to view and track dependencies
Step 3: Create Shared Projects
Switch to your organization context using the switcher in the top navigation, then create projects as usual. Organization projects are visible to all members.
Step 4: Upload Manifests for Each Service
Have each team member upload the manifest files for the services they own. This distributes the setup work across the team.
Step 5: Set Up Team Notifications
Each team member can configure their own notification preferences. For comprehensive coverage:
- Have at least one person subscribe to each category relevant to your stack
- Use daily or weekly digests to avoid notification fatigue
- Review the dashboard together in weekly stand-ups or planning sessions
Best Practices
- Use descriptive project names — "checkout-api" is better than "Project 1"
- Keep manifests current — re-upload after significant dependency changes
- Assign ownership — make sure each project has a clear owner responsible for acting on deprecation alerts
- Review together — include deprecation review as a regular team activity
